BIA Study Program “Jurisprudence” became a member of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA)
ELFA was founded to increase the quality of legal education in Europe by providing a platform for discussion and exchange. The aim of ELFA’s activities is to coordinate the process of reform of legal education in Europe, introducing new topics, promoting cooperation between Universities in Europe and representing Law Faculties vis-à-vis European Institutions, Lawyers and Prosecutors’ Associations. The Association has more than 250 members from EU countries and etc.

The first meeting of the methodological seminar “Methodology of socio-humanitarian cognition and activity” was held in the new year, which is designed to help improve the skills of the academic staff of the Baltic International Academy. The topic was proposed for consideration: "The role of social and human sciences."
The business tone of the discussion was set by an interesting and detailed report by the guest of the BMA, doctor of sociology, professor of Daugavpils University Vladimir Menshikov.
Introducing the guest, the chairman of the organizing committee of the seminar, BMA professor Valery Nikiforov noted his recognized authority in the scientific community of Latvia and abroad. This is convincingly evidenced by his post as head of the editorial board of the international journal Vestnik of Social Sciences. Being published in it is revered for honor and the BMA scientists.
In his speech, Professor Vladimir Menshikov polemically analyzed the role of science from the origins of the emergence of sociology to the anniversary report dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Club of Rome, which caused a lively response among the audience.

On December 13 in our academy took place the VIII International scientific and practical conference “Transformational processes in the sphere of law, regional economics and economic policy: relevant economical, political and other law problems”. It was organised by Baltic International academy, University of Daugavpils, Riga P.Stradiņš University and Uniwersytet Przyrodniczo-Humanistyczny w Siedlcach.
For the discussion were prepared 140 scientific reports and works by scientists from 12 countries.
Opening the conference, professor and vice rector of scientific work in BIA Inna Stecenko marked, that the popularity of the internantional scientific conference in Riga is steadily increasing and presentation themes are becoming more various.
Greeting words for participants of the conference were also prepared by professor, chairman of the BIA senate Stanislav Buka. He thanked the scientists for the interest in the conference, dedicated to the modern transformational processes and wished them new achievements in the scientific researches.
All materials from the conference will be published in the electronic version on BIA site in the section “scientific work”.

Days of translations in BIA
Wide respond in our academy and outside was received by “Translation days”. These days were organised last week in BIA by specialists of BIA program “Writing and speaking translating”. There were partners from MSU Faculty of Philology. Doc. A.Mikoyan and major employee of oriental studies V. Nemchinov shared with their experiences during lectures and seminars, which were regarded as useful and very interesting.
For example, lectures were: “About understanding of yourself and others in unselfish dialogues”, “Struggling with literalism in translating process”, “Language of body in oral translating” and others.
In this lectures were possibilities to learn about secrets of writing translation on English language during the master-classes.
High rated the performance of guests doc. Emma Arhangelska. She regarded that “Translating days” earnestly got attention from students and professors. It was very useful to have a practice connected with experience of famous specialists in sphere of translating.

In 18-19 of October in BIA was held international scientific conference ‘’Social and political anthropology: modern scientific approaches for researches.’’ The main initiative was from BIA studying program ‘’European study’’. Seminar for a group of doctoral students
Masaryk University organizes annually a seminar for the selection of Israeli and Central European doctorate students (10 in total) in Brno or in Telč in July every year. In Brno, the venue is Masaryk University central campus.
Above all, the seminar aims to attract intelligent and open Ph.D. candidates with interest beyond their own respective fields, who want to share their research findings with the like-minded peers from the Central Europe and Israel.
The program of the seminar includes presentations of papers on the given topic by each of the participants with enough time and space for mutual discussion. The seminar also consists of cultural program in the surroundings of the town where the seminar is organized. The program of seminars that has been organized in previous years can be found in the section Documents.
PhD seminar: The annual PhD Herzl Chair seminar will take place in Brno between 17th February – 20th February 2019. The deadline for the applications is 10th December 2018.

K. Zhubanov Aktobe regional state university, taking into account the long-term experience of joint cooperation with Baltic international academy, invites university professors to take part in the program of engagement of foreign scientists to conduct lectures and practical classes, workshops, master classes, participation in the round tables and conferences, joint implementation of educational and scientific projects. Foreign scientists shall meet the following requirements:
- foreign experts in the field of IT technology, innovative pedagogy, development of soft and entrepreneurial skills, development of start-up projects, project management, etc .;
- to have PhD or doctor of science. The experts of business, management, IT technology areas are allowed with master's degree;
- to have teaching experience at least 5 years;
- have publiсations in scientific and professional journals with impact factor over the past 3 years;
- to stay at the university from 2 to 4 weeks;
- Russian language proficiency is welcomed.
